Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker Ballet Suite Op. 71a. – excerpts
"Old Hungarian songs" with string orchestral accompaniment
Antonio Vivaldi – Tiboe Bornai: The Four Seasons for five voices and string orchestra – premiere
The New Year’s concert by the Budapest Strings and Jazzation is a special bonbon for those who are hungry for musical delicacies. As an aperitif there will be a suite for strings from the Nutcracker followed by virtuoso vocal jazz with a winter theme. To close the first half we shall hear well known „Old Hungarian Songs” sung by five voices with string orchestral accompaniment. And in the second half there will be the main course: a premiere for strings and five voices made from a musical hit nearly three hundred years old. The composer, writer and poet Tibor Bornai has written singable words to all twelve movements of Antonio Vivaldi’s: Four Seasons, which for the first time reaches the podium in its entirety, performed by the Budapest Strings and the Jazzation ensemble.
